ROD SIMMONS NAMED DIRECTOR OF HOCKEY

The Florida Jr. Blades, an established member of the USPHL Hockey Association, announced today Rod Simmons as the organization’s Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations beginning with the 2021-2022 season.


Rod Simmons brings over 30 years of hockey experience to the Junior Blades organization. For the past two seasons, Simmons has been Director of Hockey Operations and Head Coach of Bridgton Academy (USHS-Prep).

Simmons coaching career began in 1998 in JR Hockey Ontario, from there he has coached in numerous leagues including NCAA, and Junior teams throughout the USA and Canada. Simmons has been named Coach of the Year four times in 2 different leagues, as well as developing numerous NCAA Division 1 hockey players.


“I am excited to be joining the Florida Jr. Blades. I am confident that my 30+ years of successful coaching experience, both US and Internationally, will help our athletes develop, excel, and progress in the sport of hockey.” Said Simmons. “I concentrate on each and every player individually and a key part of my coaching philosophy is centered around life skills. Working alongside our Jr Blades partners, community, and the Hertz Arena is a great collaboration that will certainly ensure our Jr. Blades programs success”



The Florida Jr. Blades will have a prospect camp April 30 - May 2 at Hertz Arena in Estor, Florida. All interested players for next fall are encouraged to attend so the new coaching staff can evaluate new players. To register for camp, go to www.JrBlades.Hockey
